One other option is to picnic and visit one of Auckland's many waterfront parks. Only 20 kilometers separate the Auckland city center from Long Bay Regional Park. You have plenty of space to throw a rugby ball, play a friendly game of cricket, or simply unwind on the beach's kilometer-long stretch of white sand and nearby grassy area.  

The untamed Piha beach is located in West Auckland. Piha, one of New Zealand's top surfing locations, is only 45 minutes from the heart of Auckland and is surrounded by native forests. Enjoy fish & chips and ice cream while enjoying sunbathing, sand, and waves.

Restaurants & Bars  

Some of Auckland's best pubs and restaurants with views of Waitemata Harbour can be found in Wynyard Quarter. A sandy playground is available for children, and you may visit the Auckland Fish Market.  

Silo Park is located right next to it. You can make a night of it with various food options from food trucks, a wine bar, DJ, and outdoor movies starting at 9 pm.
